Privacy Policy

What we collect, and what we don't.

Last updated: 07/20/2026 (MM/DD/YYYY)

GetRealTerms ("we," "us," "our") publishes free calculators at getrealterms.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what information the Site collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. We've kept it short because our calculators are genuinely simple: your numbers stay in your browser.

What our calculators don't collect

Every calculator on this Site — Offer Ledger, Rent vs Buy, Freelance vs Full-time, Lease vs Buy a Car, Grad School vs Working, and Relocate: City A vs City B — runs entirely in your browser. The salary, rent, tuition, or other figures you type in are used only to calculate a result on your screen. They are never sent to, or stored on, any server we operate. If you use a "Copy shareable link" button, your inputs are encoded directly into that URL rather than saved in a database — closing the tab or clearing your history removes them.

What we may collect

Like most websites, our hosting provider and any analytics tools we use may automatically log standard technical information — things like your approximate location (from IP address), browser type, device type, pages visited, and time spent on the Site. We use this only in aggregate, to understand which tools are useful and to keep the Site running reliably. We don't require an account, and we don't ask for your name, email, or other personal details anywhere on the Site itself.

Cookies and advertising

This Site displays ads through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this Site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or by using the opt-out tool below if you're a California resident. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser's settings at any time. Doing so won't affect how our calculators work, since they don't rely on cookies to function.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"), gives you certain rights over the technical and advertising-related information described above. You have the right to:

Because our calculators don't use accounts or store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are exercised through the opt-out control below, which tells Google's ad systems not to use your browsing on this Site for personalized ad targeting. This Site also automatically honors the Global Privacy Control signal if your browser or extension sends one — no action needed if you've already enabled it.

Checking your current preference…

Third-party services

To keep the Site fast and free, we load a small number of resources from third-party providers, including Google Fonts (for typography) and Chart.js and html2canvas (for the charts and downloadable result cards, both served from a public CDN). These providers may see standard technical request data — such as your IP address — when your browser loads those files, subject to their own privacy policies. We don't share any calculator inputs with them.

Children's privacy

This Site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example as we add new tools or advertising features. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
